Can you explain the difference between engraving, thermography and letterpress?
Sure, let me see if I can explain the differences easily.
Engraving is a process where a plate is made of the wording you are using. The plate is put on the paper. This process allows you to feel the printing from both the back and the front of the invitation. This method was very popular decades ago. Generally, engraving is not used much these days.
Thermography is a heat transfer process. The text is imputed into a computer and it is printed from a printer. It is considered raise printing, but, you can only feel it from the front side. Thermography is the most popular way of printing these days. There are many, many fonts you can use and it is the most cost effective method of printing.
Letterpressing is a term used for relief printing. In other words, a reversed, raise surface is inked and then pressed into a sheet of paper to obtain a positive right-reading image. Remember going on a field trip in grammar school and you saw how something was printed from centuries ago. Well, this is similar to that way. Letterpressing is the most expensive way to go. Mainly, it is a very time consuming method, so, it does cost more.
Do I have to come and pick up my products or can they be shipped?
Preferably, it is best to come and pick your order up. Why might this be you ask? Honestly, I enjoy all of my customers and I love seeing you again.
